… well… did they forget to add “can’t quest this turn” to his ability? … Considering several of Emerald and Steel actions, items and character abilities (e.g., Queen of Hearts – Quick-Tempered) can deal damage, your other characters will also challenge (especially Ruby and Steel), and Beast is a 4/5 on its own, this character is capable of gaining a lot of lore in a turn, while taking out opposing characters. He will likely be a finisher in Emerald decks, especially combined with Ruby or Steel?
Combo brought by Into the Inklands: If you have the Sheriff of Nottingham - Corrupt Official in play with a dry Beast - Relentless at the location The Bayou - Mysterious Swamp, you can quest with Beast (gain 2 lore), draw a card, then discard a card (due to The Bayou), deal 1 damage to chosen opposing character, and ready Beast again, to start the cycle again. You can repeat this per remaining Willpower of each of your opponents' characters without Resist or Ward - you banish them and gain 2 lore per cycle.

Clarifications

My opponent has a copy of Flounder and 4 copies of Mouse Armor in play. On my opponent's turn they used the Protection ability of all 4 copies of Mouse Armor and chose Flounder all 4 times, giving it Resist 4. In this situation if my Beast - Relentless challenges that opposing Flounder, can I use Beast's Second Wind ability to ready him?
No, you cannot. If a character with resist 4 is dealt 4 damage then all 4 damage is prevented by resist and therefore that character was not damaged.
