The additional card you may put in your inkwell has to be inkable, and you have to reveal it to your opponent. Belle - Strange But Special's ability has a similar effect.
If you don't have an inkable card in your hand, you can still play Sail the Azurite Sea to draw a card and then put that card in your inkwell if it's inkable. You actually always have to first draw the card because the first sentence creates an exception to the rules for your turn but doesn't tell you to do it right then.
